Sydney Z. Spiesel, PHD, MD
Syd Spiesel, the founder of our practice, received his PhD in cellular immunology from Yale University in 1972 and his MD, also from Yale, in 1975. After his pediatric internship and residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital (and some time studying developmental and behavioral pediatrics and the application of computer technology to medicine), he began teaching in Yale’s Department of Pediatrics – initially, full time, and, later (after opening his private pediatric practice), part-time.
His scientific and medical interests include infectious disease, vaccine immunology, and medical information technology and his pediatric interests range from child development to adolescent care. He has been a national medical print and radio journalist, a computer software developer, and a vaccine developer.
He is excessively proud of his wife, his two children, their spouses, and his four grandchildren. He has developed an exceptionally good cheesecake recipe and has appeared on a Trivial Pursuit card.
Jennifer Dias, MSN, APRN, FNP-C
Jennifer Dias is a Family Nurse Practitioner with a specialty in pediatrics. She graduated from Southern Connecticut State University and has since been treating patients in the New Haven area. She is committed to serving the health care needs in the community while helping children navigate into adulthood. In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter.
Jillene Bonet, APRN
Jillene joined West Rock Pediatrics in December 2021 as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has a Doctorate in Nursing from Fairfield University, and a Masters in Public Health from the University of New England. She has diverse experience in emergency medicine, acute care, and teaching basic life support. Jill is passionate about caring and advocating for children and their families.
